A perfect plane for new 3D pilots
Seagull Models' Harrier 3D 46 ARF is perfect for intermediate pilots who are thinking of joining the 3D RC world. It's made of lightweight materials, and when combined with the power of Horizon's Evolution .46NT, it can jump on command. Toned down, it can be as docile as a trainer-especially in takeoff and landing modes. This company was new to me, and I have to say that the quality of construction is quite good. As with all light 3D models, the materials and covering are fragile in spots, so take care when you handle the airframe.
KIT FEATURES
The fuselage, wings and tail feathers are constructed of built-up balsa, plywood and veneer and are covered in a red and yellow UltraCote scheme that's highly visible from the ground.
The kit includes a fiberglass cowl and wheel pants, a plastic canopy attached to the top hatch, two-piece aluminum landing gear, a fully assembled tailwheel bracket, two aluminum wing tubes and a decal sheet. A complete hardware package includes engine mounts, a fuel tank, all the linkages with the required connecting ends, CA hinges, a spinner, wheels and a full complement of screws, bolts, nuts, wheel collars, washers, axles, etc., to complete the model. I read the 20-page manual, which has blackand-white photos, before I started.
To complete the model, I added an Evolution .46NT 2-stroke; a Zinger 12x4 propeller; a JR 388S computer radio with receiver and 6 ST47 servos from a JR Precision Sport RC System; three 12-inch servo extensions; silicone fuel tubing; and foam to protect the radio and the fuel tank.
